Everyone (bride, bridesmaids, groom, groomsmen, family) all hanging out together in the bridal suite ahead of time. They also needed some head shots of Debbie Wright - owner of Project Closet, and consulting style expert on <a href="http://www.wfsb.com/betterct/index.html" target="blank">Better CT</a> TV, Channel 3 - to promote her role at Bangle &amp; Clutch as their fashion stylist/personal shopper.<br /><br />They have amazing things to (as they say) take your look 'from ordinary to extraordinary'. So if you're into great fashion, fabulous handbags, and cool accessories &amp; jewelry, you should check them out. They have two locations - one in Avon and another in South Windsor. It was pretty cool - I asked them to climb out onto the end of one cliff face while I photographed them from across the water from an opposite cliff. The warm light of sunset was just perfect also.<br /><br />We made our way back to Jamestown and eventually to Sam's boat - the site where Sam had proposed to Kim. The Newport Bridge made for a really nice backdrop for their pictures on the boat. It was great working together again and we took full advantage of the gorgeous couple, the beautiful sunny day, and the city of Hartford. In any case, I was just so happy to have great weather and lots of time for pictures the day before at one of my favorite places in Mystic - Ender's Island. Jennifer and Patrick's parents were so nice - carrying my bags and providing me with drinks. The next day, at their actual wedding at <a href="http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/gonmm-mystic-marriott-hotel-and-spa/" target="blank">Mystic Marriott</a>, the two fathers made speeches that turned into a duel to see who could thank the most people - very funny. Also, I have to say I really likes Patrick's music choices - the first time I heard New Order at a wedding and the crowd really got into it. Congratulations! Kristin and her girls were so great about "getting the picture" so I had a few of them dangling on a staircase ledge for the early part of the day - no injuries :) Ken - one of the nicest guys ever! The flower girl and ring bearer almost stole the show, and the light during the ceremony was just perfect, but faded quickly so we weren't able to get too many formals outdoors, but we made the best of it. They are such a young, fun couple and they included some cool details into the day that made their wedding uniquely theirs. After the ceremony Alison's class congratulated her outside the church, then it was off to the Milford beaches for formals. At <span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span><a href="http://greatrivergolfclub.com/www/banquets.asp">The Great River Golf Club</a>, in rememberence of Tim's Dad, Alison &amp; Tim made their entrance on Alison's Dad's 1968 blue corvette, immediately preceded by Tim's Dad's white corvette. Matt of <a href="http://www.dmodyssey.com/" target="blank">Digital Media Odyssey</a> and I accompanied them on a golf cart all over the place for more pictures. Then it was a fabulous party inside with the music provided by Jason &amp; Jeff of <a href="http://ctpartypros.com/" target="blank">CT Party Pros</a> who also provided all the cool lighting! There is a family feel to every wedding there and Lauren &amp; Rian's wedding was no exception. Rian has a Scottish background and I loved the way they included Scottish traditions in the Jewish ceremony. Lauren and Rian were really up for pictures - I love the moody light in the hallways and rooms and their interactions of course. They're just cracking up in so may pictures as well! In some ways it seems like that was soooooooo long ago and in other ways, just yesterday. We've done an awful lot in those ten years! We've had 6 different addresses (yikes!), we've been blessed with a beautiful little girl, we've been fortunate to have traveled to lots of amazing places, and despite working together side-by-side pretty much everyday for the last 7 years....we still call eachother best friend and love!<br /><br />To celebrate the big occasion, we took our FIRST vacation away together without Ciara and headed to Marco Island in Florida. We stayed at a <a href="https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel-guide/mrkfl-marco-island-marriott-beach-resort-golf-club-and-spa/" target="blank">Balinese-inspired hotel</a> on the gulf coast and rented a convertible and pretended to be single and carefree again. If we had known how LITTLE our daughter would miss us (Nana &amp; Papa spoil the heck out of her) we would've stayed a few more days :) We didn't bring any camera with us (a conscious decision to keep it all about relaxing and us - and not about the perfect light, and gorgeous scenery) but on the last day we broke down and bought one of those disposable cameras - not the best quality. This summer was FULL of polka-dot bikinis, tea parties and everything MERMAID. Ciara begged for a mermaid party, and didn't care about the 'NO presents at all' rule (good thing since her birthday is in the winter). She insisted she just wanted to dress up like mermaids, play games and have a mermaid cake!<br /><br />So off to Jo-Anns fabrics we went, and got a bunch of gaudy shiny fabric remnants. For starters, the ceremony at <a href="http://www.salve.edu/" target="blank">Salve Regina</a> was just breathtaking. Following the ceremony, we used the grounds for some pictures but I was glad when Shannon and Michael happilly agreed to go back inside for photographs. I could have taken pictures there all day but security asked us to leave after just 10 minutes. We did stretch those 10 minutes just a little!<br /><br />The reception took place at the <a href="http://www.newportexperience.com/regattaplace.htm">Regatta Place</a>- I just love the casual Newport vibe. Even the Maitre Di spoke to me like he was my best friend. At one point, we had the couple on one of the boats with the videographer, who shall remain nameless, directing them from the dock below. Well, in his efforts to direct them he backed up and KERSPLOOSH! he's in the water. He actually threw his camera back onto the dock as he fell so he thankfully saved his equipment. The poor guy took an awful amount of teasing from the guests afterwards. The incident freaked me out enough that I stayed well away fom the water after that! <br /><br />Congratulations Shannon and Michael. Everyone had such a great time at their wedding - including the bride & groom. The day started at the <a href="http://www.ltmcottagehouse.com/" target="blank">Cottage House</a> which is <a href="http://www.lordthompsonmanor.com/" target="blank">Lord Thompson Manor's</a> sister site. I had never done getting ready pictures there before, but I just loved it! Carla and her whole family were there, along with the newest little addition....who almost stole the show :) The porch...I could've shot there all day - great light! Then it was off to the Manor. Dan choked up during the ceremony which got a huge laugh from Carla (who also choked up as well). Beautiful ceremony and great party to follow. Congratulations Carla & Dan! On his wedding day no less! <br /><br />Diana & Tod had their ceremony and reception at the Grassy Hills Country Club - my first visit there. I really liked the walking bridal party shots up the hill - it's not often you can fit a whole bridal party into a vertical picture like that.<br />The parent dances took place to a picture slideshow - the father-daughter dance set to all the old pictures of Diana and her Dad was unbelieveably emotional. Formals at <a href="http://www.wickhampark.org/" target="blank">Wickham Park</a> were a little sticky but other than that the whole day ran smoothly. They were married at <a href="http://www.stbartparish.org/index.html" target="blank">St. Bartholemew</a> in Manchester where the priest revealed that the very first wedding he performed was for Courtney's Mom & Dad. The reception was at <a href="http://www.chezjosef.com/" target="blank">Chez Joseph</a> (my first time there) and <a href="http://www.afterhoursdj.com/disc_jockey.htm" target="blank">Bert & Peter</a> did a great job of keeping the dance floor packed. Yes, Kristen & Mile were fun. But I also seem to remember a few bridesmaids who were liable to say just about anything for a laugh. The ceremony took place at the <a href="http://www.ourladyofpompeii.com" target="blank">Lady of Pompeii</a> church in East Haven. I think the dark ceiling against the bright walls with all the stained glass windows made for great pictures -such a beautiful church. After the ceremony, we stopped off at Morris Cove in New Haven for pictures. It was at Morris Cove that my name mysteriously changed to Ferdinand and I was made to answer to that for the rest of the day! From there we journeyed to the <a href="http://www.aquaturfclub.com" target="blank">Aqua Turf</a> where we hit the evening light just right for more pictures. The party that followed words cannot describe! Being on a hilltop made for some pretty cool skies as well. <br /><br />Jessica actually had her dress made by one of her bridesmaids - hard to beat that wedding present. There were some really funny moments when the ringbearer and flowergirl came down the aisle - the ringbearer took a dramatic fall before finding some much needed respite behind his cushion. Quite an opening act to the big show! The weather could not be more perfect and I loved the brown/blue colors of the bridal party. After the ceremony we ALL hoofed it downtown and we got some fun pictures on the Mystic Bridge and the docks as well. Lots of laughs! Then it was off to the Mystic Hilton for the celebration where the dancefloor never let up. The light was just so great at Olivia's house for getting ready pictures - I also got Olivia and her girls to climb up the hill on wet grass to take some outdoor pictures - everyone survived! The ceremony took place at <a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.sfxnewmilford.org" target="blank">St. Francis Xavier Church</a> in New Milford - I liked the slightly Celtic cross window at the corner of the church so I took just a quick shot of them there before we set off for the <a href="http://thefoxhillinn.com/" target="blank">Fox Hill Inn</a>.<br /><br />The weather couldn't make up it's mind - we had sun and rain at the same time - so we took lots of pictures inside. I love the grand foyer and red walls so I wasn't complaining! Of course we did eventually get some pictures outside as well. The two of them, along with their bridal party were great fun during formals. Especially the guys who could not contain themselves when discussing an unfortunate grooming incident. I love Newport!<br /><br />The day began at the <a href="http://admiralfitzroy.com/">Admiral Fitzroy</a> (such a quaint bed &amp; breakfast) for pictures of the groomsmen. Then off to <a href="http://www.newportexperience.com/oceancliff.htm">Ocean Cliff</a> where we were greeted by rain :( Poor Wendy had her heart set on an outdoor wedding - and she wisely waited it out until the sun broke through. Good call!<br /><br />The OceanCliff and it's seaside environs are...well...gorgeous. Wendy and Matt were just so comfortable in front of the camera - and with each other as well! I had to include the twin G'n'R guitar attack of Matt and one of his groomsmen - these guys went literally flat out for 2 whole minutes. OK, OK, enough about the bride! Adam and his groomsmen are big into rugby which, as a long suffering fan of Irish rugby, is alright in my book. Congratulations Melissa and Adam. It included some of their favorite songs, including the song that Beth sang and dedicated to Mike. Great! we catch up on our sleep, recover from jetlag, visit with the family, take a walk on the beach, the sun is shining, a bit colder than typical "summer" weather, but good for Ireland. All's well.<br /> <br />Friday I went into Dublin to meet up with my friends Fergus and Trayc. We were heading north to Glasslough and Fermanagh for the weekend. We left a rainy Dublin at 5pm heading north on the M50, listening to Coldplay, Guggenheim Grotto, Missy Higgins (and even some Lionel Richie....c'mon you can't beat "Dancing on the Ceiling" to put you in a feel-good-roadtrip kinda mood. The rains got heavier, and we soon found out that traffic - which was WAY worse than usual - was so bad because of flooding. UGH! Three hours later, we still were not even 20 miles outside Dublin. I tried to lighten the mood with some Gilligan humor singing "a three-hour tour....a three hour tour" but there's no NICK AT NIGHT in Ireland so it was lost on them. By this time, the guards (police) were diverting everyone off the motorway. Three backroad attempts met with more flooding. It turned out that ALL roads were closed. We couldn't get back into town, and we couldn't go north, south, east, west. We were literally STUCK! We tried to book into a hotel for the night, but they were all full. We hung out in the lobby of the Holiday Inn Express for a couple hours and around midnight, after the rain seemed to stop we decided to try again. We ventured out trying to find SOME road that we could take. Their wedding was so incredibly special for so many different reasons. Of course the details were amazing and they had a perfect day weather-wise....but it was more than that. These two just OOZED complete love and adoration for eachother. Their happiness was so genuine that it just spilled over onto everyone around them, creating a party where everyone was as relaxed as they were, enjoying good food, good company and great atmosphere. <a href="http://lordthompsonmanor.com/" target="blank">Lord Thompson Manor</a> looked amazing, and I have to give a special shout out to Jackie for her incredible attention to Kate & Mark - and to EVERYONE at the wedding, including myself. She and Shawn had a beautiful wedding ceremony on Eileen's old campus at <a href="http://www.lauraltonhall.org/" target="blank">Laurelton Hall</a> in Milford. She walked down the aisle to meet Shawn to a "churchified" version of the Grateful Dead's "Scarlet Bagonias" and every little detail had her own personal style -- from her green sash, to the jewelery she designed, to the "dreads" on her flowers, to the incredibly AMAZING favors (originals that Eileen had made for each of her guests). They are two of the greatest people around and so easy-going and fun to be with, let alone photograph. They had a beautiful ceremony at <a href="http://www.stjamesstratford.com/">St. James Church</a target="blank"> in Stratford, where Father Tom Lynch gave a fantastic homily about love (and love letters :) By the time we got to the reception, the weather was a little "iffy", but we were able to sneak outside on the deck of the <a href="http://theriverhouse.com/" target="blank">Riverhouse</a> for a few minutes to capture some formals of the bride & groom. After browsing the harbor and dodging the neighborhood watch in Belle Haven we decided to head to Bruce Park for a more relaxed session. While we were there I saw this cool tree that reminded me of my favorite painting (Cezanne's "Pine at Aix") Karen & Christoper were great about climbing in and going with my ideas. Thanks guys! Their ceremony took place at St. Peter's Cathedral. Pictures took place at Elmwood Park across the street from the cathedral, and also at Ram's Pasture in Newtown. I don't think I've ever seen Patty without a huge smile on her face. And Dean was one of my 2008 "hands-on" grooms who coordinated almost all of the wedding photography for the day. Patty & Dean had a beautiful ceremony at <a href="http://www.stgeorgecathedral.org/" target="blank">St. George's Greek Orthodox Church</a> in Hartford. Then it was off to city hall for photos in the atrium (thank you again to the groomsman with the blackberry :) The reception was held at the <a href="http://www.clarionbristolct.com/" target="blank">Bristol Clarion</a> where there was lots of Greek dancing and dollar bills in the air! Of course we TIVO it and start watching a half hour after everything starts so we don't have to waste time watching commercials :)<br /><br />So, we're watching the folks at <a href="http://www.dundermifflininfinity.com/" target="blank">Dunder Mifflin</a>, and you had to hear me SQUEAL with delight when they mentioned they were going to a job fair at VALLEY VIEW -- my alma mater!!! The fun continued when I saw "Go Cougars" in the gym! Whoever the technical advisor is on the show, she/he gets it right everytime. Denise was the calmest, coolest bride ever, and the getting ready part of the day was extra special with her little guy Sam making sure he was in almost every picture. After the ceremony at the Congregational Church of West Hartford, we had a full-fledged photo shoot with 3 locations: Bushnell Park, City Hall, and finally the amazing Joe Black's. It's a shame that they've closed their doors - but I'm glad that Denise &amp; Alex were able to have their wedding there, just as they wanted.
